Keeping the Torch Burning!

The Summer Olympics will soon kick-off in London, England, on July 27, but the festivities began several weeks ago. On May 19, the Olympic Torch was lit and the country began to follow 70 days of 70 routes of the Torch Relay. I was personally invested in this tradition because my first cousin, Don Raborn, was chosen to be one of the torch bearers. This was quite an honor for our entire family and one that we will not soon forget.

However, Don has always been a great source of pride for our family. Don and his wife, Staci, began the Jake Owen Raborn Foundation in 2006, shortly after their four-year-old son, Jake, died of a rare liver cancer. The Jake Owen Raborn Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to financially supporting families enduring pediatric cancer, as well as providing financial support to organizations and facilities that care for families enduring pediatric cancer. For this family, the torch has been burning for over six years now.
